Maramureş by bike

New mountain bikes for rent, freshly marked cycle tracks, minibuses and a forestry narrow gauge train equipped with bike racks! All wrapped in attractive visitor packages. That’s the tourist offer brought to life by ACCESS2MOUNTAIN in Maramureş this summer.

Since this land in north-western Romania has a very good setting for mountain biking, but most of its paths are still unknown by cycle tourists, we decided to show the region off by marking more than 100 km of tracks and pepper them with helpful info panels. The result: Quiet mountain and rural paths, friendly villages, charming views and many other inviting ingredients! By following the red C signs, the tracks connect green areas, tourist sights and many river valleys of Historical Maramureş: Mara, Cosău, Iza, Vişeu and Vaser. Some of these trails follow the route of former railway beds, used in the past for exploiting the rich forestry and salt resources of the area.

And that’s not all the news related to bike infrastructure in Maramureş. The 20 bikes purchased at the end of 2012, when warm season was still a far away hope are now impatiently waiting for their tourists in five different centres located in key points of the tracks. So are the bike racks supplied by several different local transporters, ready to offer their services and help you accessing the area. The new products interconnected and highlighted though visitor packages will soon be officially launched and ready to be promoted in printed catalogues, webpages and video materials.
