OverviewRailwayMultimodal transportTourismEnvironmentPolicy development
Examination of 51 good-practice examples revealed that sustainable multimodal transport solutions are more successful if built on a cooperation of proactive partners with shared interests and a strong network including transport providers, tourist associations, regional authorities and the local community. Among the core success criteria are further a sound financing; community involvement (in the development process but also as potential user); creation of a simple and easily comprehensive offer with seamless connections; intensive marketing and promotion; regular evaluation of the initiative to improve the offered service and better reach the target group(s). Offering sustainable and soft mobility also means to reuse abandoned structures of transportation and combine them with each other.
